David is shocked to learn he is being sued for inflicting severe psychological harm on Caroline Hopkins, after he assisted in her exorcism. The accusation leads him to question his future as a priest, especially once he develops a very close connection with his defense attorney, Renée Harris.

Kristen, David and Ben are called to investigate an insidiously addictive Christmas song that's spreading among an increasing number of students, and the dangerous relationship between online influencers and their impressionable young followers.

David, Kristen and Ben assess whether a pregnant woman is possessed when she claims one of the twins she’s carrying is evil. Their investigation leads to a fertility clinic where they discover a connection to all of their encounters throughout the season. Also, Kristen questions one of her daughters’ capacity for evil upon realizing that she also used that fertility clinic.

This is a show with a very strong gimmick. Admittedly it's one I find very compelling on a personal level. I mean it's not like catholic myth is somehow underrepresented but it's something I always find interesting to see in the SFF genre. Here the gimmick is very simple. Is the Catholic faith myth or reality and honestly I didn't think they'd stretch it out as long as they did but a FULL season of not knowing and never having it confirmed is interesting. Inspite of the many examples of [spoiler]exorcisms and possessions and demonic children and seeing demons. There's not a single instance that could be fully explained away. Not Leland seeing his demonic overlords not Kristen seeing them or her children seeing them or even the final ending of Kristen being burned by a cross. [/spoiler]They can all be explained and that's... compelling. I figure season two they have to settle on it being real and do the real fight. Michael Emerson feels underused but not by a lot. He's an odd casting choice for that specific role but :shrug: it's Michael Emerson so he brings his a-game and eventually he fits into this new shoe. He's not the defiant character he was in Lost that got rewritten as a leader, he's not the quietly brave and focused character of Persons of Interest he's a cowardly bully here. It's different. Our leads are solid Kristen, David and Ben are all excellent. Ben get the short end since he's not romantically linked with the others but when he is used he's used well. The four girls are... annoying. There's just no way around that. But honestly they're the most consistently annoying thing of the season which is good. Everything else works well. Most of the cases are interesting the narrative mostly goes along well with a few missed opportunities like **The Sixty** which I thought would be the big bad, but basically get dropped. The final episode does reveal a big bad linking all the cases and it does so well. It also introduces a personal twist for our main trio that I find compelling. All in all it does everything right that _Prodigal Son_, a contemporary show to this one, does wrong.
From CBS comes the supernatural drama _Evil_. In Season 1 a Catholic priest-in-training recruits psychologist Kristen Bouchard to join his team that investigates supernatural phenomenon for the Church, but the more she sees the harder it is for her to maintain her skepticism. Starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, and Michael Emerson, the show has a good cast, and the writers do an impressive job at playing with ambiguity; so as to allow for both scientific and religious explanations for some of cases. Also, the storytelling nicely balances the case investigations with personal character stories. _Evil_ delivers a solid first season and lays the foundation for some exciting things to come.
Pretty good show with a good plot, enjoyed the show. That ending though... 8/10
It was thoroughly enjoyable from the start. Definitely one of the best new shows. Well, new as in back around when it premiered. Upon finishing the whole season, its entirety feels significantly better when I look back on it.
Not totally impressed with this series to be frank with you. Clearly it is not for everyone. However, I must be honest. I will continue to watch it nonetheless because I find Katja to be a cutie. That is my only reasons. Other than that the rest, like Van Jones would say, is a "nothing burger."
