This is a sequel to RTE's Rebellion. And as a sequel, it's disappointing, since only 3 members of the cast return here, and none of them are the main female characters from the previous show. It makes this a bit disjointed and confusing. Their absence hangs heavy over every episode. Resistance introduces another brother of Jimmy who is a member of the British Army. Why?? Where was he last season??? Why was he even given a wife if she doesn't get to do anything?? It's pretty obvious they just couldn't get Barry Ward to come back. However, I think these 5 episodes were still engaging. The music was utilized well to keep you in suspense. It feels like they expected to get another season to focus on the Irish Civil War, because the ending is very cliff-hangy. Of course, this is history, so you can easily find out what happened after the Anglo-Irish Treaty, but that's not as dramatic or satisfying lol
