I'm watching this mainly because it is one of Jessica Chastain's earliest screen appearances. This TV mini-series pre-dates her film debut at age 31 in the movie Jolene (2008). It's a decent TV mini-series, based on the exploits of the pirate Black Beard. There are a few TV greats such as Angus Macfadyen and Richard Chamberlain in this show. The former playing the title character. Jessica Chastain plays a character that would eventually become her signature character archetype, The Strong-willed Woman who doesn't fit the traditional Mold in the time and place a story unfolds.
