Some pretty gruesome murders in this season, and a ton of twists in the finale.

First off, it's obvious that wokeness was a central tenet of this show; this is somehow the second season where a character casually jokes about "mansplaining" which is a word I've never heard anyone not terminally online use in conversation. They ticked almost every single diversity checkbox--Muslim girl, Black female detective, Indian detective, openly gay Hispanic man, interracial lesbian couple with mental health issues, asexual Chinese woman, polyamorous bisexual dude, abusive Italian mobster husband, racist White nationalist man, liberal barista White man. I didn't see any physically handicapped or little people though so A for effort but do better next time, bigots. Jokes aside, against all odds, the acting was actually decent and a far cry better than the first season where by the end I still had no idea whether the main character was actually supposed to be Irish or just doing a really bad job at an American accent. There were no insanely stupid moves from the characters either like going alone to GPS coordinates given by a serial killer. I quite enjoyed this season and the kills were fun.

The best series so far.

Oh boy, whatever happened here? I admit it's been quite a while since I watched the first two seasons of Slasher, but as far as I remember they were campy with a dumb streak but nevertheless fun to watch if you enjoy the genre. Kinda like the second season of MTV's Scream. This however was an absolute trainwreck. The killings were done in an over the top torture porn kind of way, which didn't really work from any kind of way, there were also several forced sex scenes in every episode that didn't need to be there and apparently only served the purpose to make it more "edgy". Characters were highly unlikeable so it was hard to even care who will get axed next. The acting on this show was never one of it's strongest aspects (except few notable exceptions) but boy oh boy was it atrocious here. While I do give the show some cookie points for trying to be more diverse, it doesn't really work when your writing never leaves the realm of stereotypes and cliches (also, can we not redeem the white supremacists?). The mystery not really one because it is quite easy to figure out who is under the Druid mask. I give them credit for one interesting played red herring but that's it. The killer's motivation is there, I suppose (and doubles as a commentary on the social media craze) but the issue that it doesn't really apply to its own logic regarding some of the victims. I think the concept could have been interesting but the whole season feels like it was done for a quick paycheck.
