This is a very brave attempt at filming the first 2 books set on Discworld. Brave, but flawed. The Colour of Magic, in particular, is very episodic, more so than later entries. One entire section is omitted; the Temple of Bel-Shamharoth and the related sub-plot on the true meaning of 8 to Discworld. There is the sense that the whole fantasy genre is being sent up in a massive way & a slightly disjointed feel to the narrative, forgivable in the books, but a little unsettling on screen. David Jason is over-eager to please as Rincewind. There is the occasional other mis-step (the Librarian), but nothing on the scale of the horrendous, mostly casting, errors made in Hogfather. It's not my favourite adaptation of Pratchett's work. That's Going Postal.
This is in 2 Parts for 170 minutes total or 2 hrs 50 mins.
