Ten years before "Twilight" there was this teen romantic series where a teenage girl falled in love with an alien. There was a lot of teenage angst and not much that happened at first, but at the end of the first season the show started to embrace it's science fiction roots and became actually rather watchable. It is not as bad as one could expect and the characterization is actually well done. The acting was above average too, but it was sometimes hard to get through all those long "deep" romantic conversations between the two leads. The music was also very modern and up to date at the time. It survived three seasons when it was expected to only last one due to devoted fans and it ended with an okay, but open ending. It is still enormously more satisfying than what "Twilight" ever was.
I liked this show. Very 90s charmed & buffy-esk. And chemistry between actors feels very real. It’s heavy with drama but also has lots of comedic moments too. Michael is the best. It deserved more time but ultimately the rap it up well regardless.
This was a series I actually hadn’t ever heard of until my friend Tony recommended it to me. Immediately after he told me to check it out I began watching it. I’m happy to say that he knows my taste very well. I really liked this series and it was a lot of fun binge watching. I loved the pilot episode and that’s really what hooked me. From there I began to become invested and care for the characters. Some of the cast I was familiar with and some of them I’d never seen in anything else before this. I’ve always been a big fan of Shiri Appleby and she was the big draw for me. I really liked her character throughout the entire series. I’d say the first season was probably my favorite. But I honestly enjoyed all three seasons about equally. I loved the way the first season began and I really liked how it ended. I thought the characters were very well developed. Max and Liz were my favorites and remained that way throughout the series. I’ve never been the biggest fan of supernatural stuff but enjoyed this enough to binge it. I thought season two started a bit wonky. I had some issues with the first half of the season. I just didn’t feel like the story or characters were the best. But then the second half picked up and I really enjoyed it a ton. The episodes got better and more focused. We saw the loss of a character in this season. Those things happen during the course of shows all the time. I did wish they gave that character a bit of a better send off though. I also felt like the finale of this season was a bit rushed. This was probably my least favorite season but I still enjoyed it. The third and final season had some really great moments. I liked the way the story developed and set the stage for the ending. The characters really grew and we got to meet new characters as well. The parents of the kids really played big roles in this season. That was kind of fresh addition. Most of all I loved how they ended this series. I thought it was a beautiful ending and a perfect way to end it. Overall this series was a lot of fun and had some really great moments. The soundtrack was probably the best and most consistent thing throughout the entire series. It brought me back to my teenage years and I always looked forward to the great music. A few of the Christmas episodes were excellent and hit the right emotional beats. We got to fall in love with these characters and watch them grow. The show had its issues but never struggled to keep my attention. I was always happy to watch another episode. I think they ended it at the perfect time. The show wrapped things up very well and gave us the ending we all deserved. I’m very happy with this recommendation and glad I enjoyed it.
love this shows its sad to see it Go :(
