I am writing this after watching a third of the show and althought it only has a dozen episodes I am not certain I finish this. And since it is a cancelled show anyway, why bother ? There really isn't that much incentive to go the distance. More often than not a TV show show made of a movie is not that great. It is a way to earn money from the same idea. Blade isn't awful, it isn't in the realm of unwatchable, but it is also not a must see. It feels naive, the FX is bad and there are so many plot holes and logical errors that you wonder how this got past studio execs. On the other hand, everything looked small budget and that starts and stops with the cast. As hard as Sticky Fingaz (what a stupid name to give one self) tries to be Wesley Snipes, he's not ! He is not a good actor by any standard. The rest of the cast wasn't that memorable either. To be honest, if this would have been from 1986 I could have lived with that. It would have been more on the level. But for 2006 ? There are many better shows running.

When I started this series, I kind of hated it. But as it went on, I got hooked. I actually wanted to watch the next episode so badly every time one ended. I can say I enjoyed it and liked it… but is it good? Nah, not really. It is not bad either though. It is just okaaaaaay, I guess. This series was supposed to continue the movie trilogy, or at least that is what they tried to make it seem like. They threw in tiny little references and events that resembled things from the trilogy, but that is about it. From episode one, they were already contradicting everything. This Blade feels like it exists in its own universe and has nothing to do with the movies, and honestly, that is what I choose to believe. Blade himself feels kinda off here. Like… nerfed Blade. Sticky Fingaz is decent as Blade, but compared to Wesley Snipes? Nahhh. That man was Blade. Pure charisma, energy, and presence. He made the role genuinely fun to watch. No hate to Blade, but in this show the main antagonist, Marcus Van Sciver, is honestly a better-written character than the protagonist whose name is literally in the title. I got hooked mostly because of all the vampire politics and everything related to them. I genuinely loved Marcus Van Sciver, not gonna lie. Now to Krista… oh my God, I hated that character and all her inner conflict or whatever she was going through. Like, is this not exactly what she wanted? Revenge? Did she not willingly get herself involved? Then she hits Blade with the “I didn’t sign up for this” line… hell yes you did. She is such a badly written character. The show kept trying to make us feel like she was dragged into the vampire world against her will, when in reality SHE signed up for all of that herself. I never sympathized with her psychological struggle or whatever they were trying to do because I just was not buying it. But a badly written character does not mean the actress was bad. Honestly, I was impressed by how much I hated the character, so I guess that is a point for Jill Wagner. And Shen, my boy… the wannabe Whistler. Nothing much to say about him, I loved that guy. Blade: The Series was something I never asked for, but I still enjoyed watching it. I honestly would not have minded a second season. Somehow, though, I am also glad there was not one. I just wish the ending did not get me extra hooked wanting to see what happens next.

Surprisingly good. If you enjoyed Blade, and and can take a deep breath as the he changes his face, this isn't a bad series adaptation. No idea if it is close to the comic or not...
