Trash tv at its best
Xena is still 1 of my favourite female heroes.
A spinoff of and similar to "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" Xena is about two women journeying through ancient mythological Greece and saving people and killing bandit leaders and looking sexy while doing so. While it's set in the same world as Hercules, there's a bit less fantasy in dealing with mythological creatures, gods and forces, but that's still here. It's just that there's so many episodes there's a wide variety of content, but it's still mostly killing bandits and saving people. The show is also about the change of the two central characters who are likeable and entertaining. The show is about fighting, comradery, redemption and the male gaze. It's often entertaining but it's not really good well-made television. It's fun and a bit formulaic, and so with those expectations and the above knowledge it is then nice when episodes go deeper than usual into the characters or plot.
