L'ex-flic et alcoolique en convalescence Hank Dolworth s'associe à son meilleur ami, l'ancien criminel Britt Pollack, dans une entreprise d'enquête privée sans licence. La série se déroule à Ocean Beach, à San Diego, en Californie, bien qu'elle soit décrite comme une ville distincte, Dolworth ayant déjà été membre du département de police fictif d'Ocean Beach.

This show deserved far better than it got
One of the best TV shows ever produced. Smart, funny, great writing, great acting, great score. It's a crying shame that the publicity department couldn't figure out how to sell this show, if they had, it would have been a hit. I've loaned the DVD's to almost a dozen family and friends and they all end up loving the show. I still watch it a couple of times a year!
Unfortunately the show turns into a soap opera. Stopped watching 10 minutes into episode 6…
Good acting, likable characters offering a few laughs. Plot could be a little thicker. There’s not much of a mystery aspect for a detective series. I wish they had cut out the romance - unlike your gold old film noir femme fatales the women in this series bring nothing interesting to the table,
Finally got round to watching this. All I wanna say is that if it was still on TV then I'd be watching it. The finale actually plays out in a way where you can totally see where they could have taken the story but knowing the show was cancelled it also works out to be a pretty decent mini-series. Well worth the watch, cancelled far too soon.
