I was honestly sceptical if a German production can pull this off but the trailer looked promising so I gave it a try. I wasn't disappointed. It takes a while to get rolling but once it does it becomes pretty good. Now, I don't know the source material, neither the Hohlbein book nor the original saga. Therefore I can't make comparisons. Usually that comes as an advantage as I can't compare and enjoy what is there instead. To be honest I didn't expect the Nibelungen to be anything like that. Felt pretty much like the grandfather of lots of fantasy tales. And that's not meant to be negative. Now this is obviously meant to be continued. And I have to say I hope it will and I'm looking forward to that. And that comes from someone who is German but pretty much never watches anything produced here in Germany.

Ich stehe deutschen Produktionen stets mit einer gewissen Skepsis gegenüber, insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Filmbranche in Deutschland, die ich als herausfordernd empfinde. Dennoch hat mich diese Serie von Grund auf begeistert. Ich habe jede Episode genossen, eine starke Verbindung zu den Charakteren aufgebaut und blicke einer Fortsetzung oder weiteren herausragenden Serien mit großer Vorfreude entgegen.
