Synopsis

Cut off from the mainland, islands are worlds unto themselves — isolated, enigmatic and often hiding extraordinary secrets. “Mysterious Islands” returns for a new season, traveling to remote locations to uncover stories shaped by time and isolation. On Greece’s Keros, hundreds of deliberately shattered Bronze Age figurines are uncovered, hinting at lost rituals. On Ethiopia’s Daga Island, mummified medieval emperors reveal a hidden chapter of history. In Argentina, a perfectly circular floating island rotates within a circular lake, defying easy explanation. And in Hungary, skeletal remains beneath a monastery reignite a centuries-old mystery. Using CGI, archival material and expert analysis, “Mysterious Islands” investigates the truth behind these enduring enigmas.
