I don't think I am ready for this LOL Edit: So here's the deal: If you're already familiar with BTS, the BU and the HYYH era, you'll love this. They took the first part of the story, and really expanded on it, giving more background to the boys and switching a couple of things a little. There was a lot less dying and time travelling that I was expecting to see, but hopefully we'll get that in a season 2. Instead, more time was spent developing and building the relationships between the boys during their high school years together, and the parents got a lot bigger roles than I remember them having in the webtoon. The casting and characterization was also super solid (Jeon Jin Seo's acting could use a little work, tho). I know these characters have nothing to do with the BTS members in real life, and yet it was impossible not to think of each character as the seven of them. Suga (Ce In) and J-Hope's (Ho Su) characters specifically took a lot of the real life personality traits of both guys, so it was hardest with them. I also really liked how the first few chapters were named after BTS songs (wish they'd done that with all of them), but was disappointed the drama didn't have more of their songs. I'd have liked to see at least all the ones that appear in the short films. Now, if you go into this blind, I think you'll enjoy the show but also be quite confused at times. The build up to the fantasy/sci-fi side of things could have been done better, I think. Instead of dropping little clues and crumbs to start hinting at it to develop it slowly, it was all dumped without preamble in the last couple of episodes, so that was kinda jarring. Also, the timeline jumps around some between one episode and the next, so thing also get confusing there if you don't already know the deal. And some character motivations could have been explained more clearly. But the storylines of each of the characters are heartbreaking and compelling, so if you like coming of age stories, I still think you'll like Begins ≠ Youth. All in all, this was gonna be a tough story to adapt from the start, since as of yet it's not definitively ended. But I think the writers did a good job and the actors really brought the characters to life. Still, I can't help but feel the ending point they chose was unsatisfying as it left the drama feeling very much unfinished, so I hope we'll get the rest of the webtoon adapted, at least.
