I watched this show when it came out and already lost count for how many times I've re-watched it since then. it is just the perfect comfort show. it stays true to the manga while expanding on the universe. the dad and Tane are just the cutest little duo, I love them so bad. the way yutaka and minoru's relationship slowly grows out of the friendship they've built is just so nice to watch. it's not one of those shows that catch you with sexual tension or exciting plot twists. it's at it's core a quiet, soft show about building community through cooking together, finding belonging and family, and taking care of one another. the few things I have an issue with are 1. I don't like the way we close Yutaka's family storyline. I think it's neither right nor very realistic. and 2. I think, unfortunately, the actors were a bit miscast. they do a wonderful job, they just look, imo, too old for their roles. minoru's actor might be alright if you squint but oof,,, again, they act the part, it just really took me out of the story when I saw this 30y.o. looking man trying to act college-student age. I'm used to it now after watching so many times but it really bothered me the first time lol other than that the show is perfect, imo, for what it's trying to do and so comforting to watch during winter as well
