Why is this show rated so low?
**Orb is an exceptional work, and I'll try to understand it with you.**
In traditional anime narratives, you see only one protagonist who centers the narrative, with all the characters surrounding him. Because of this, the battle shounen genre is a traditional, even conservative, and limited genre. In this sense, Orb is a disruptive narrative, as it's decentralized and tells of real people in historical times. That is, you won't see superpowers or battles. Instead, you'll see questions and challenges seeking answers. Orb isn't perfect; it has several holes and a weak production. The union of narratives and their respective links are the clearest examples of narrative forcing to make events happen. The direction isn't consistent and leaves everything very expository, like the "I'm the villain" revelation.
==Anyway, is it worth watching? Yes, absolutely.== Despite its flaws, it's an anime that tries to be something and manages to be original in its own way. However, it's not for everyone as the drama, realism and historiography (this anime is much more about history than science) will put many people off.
underrated anime: history, science, philosophy, action all together
Amazing OP/ED here and the anime has me hooked. The different characters are very interesting and I’m looking forward to see this one through.
This is the type of anime that reminds you why you like anime to begin with. When you feel like you don't like anime anymore and there's nothing in it for you, you should watch this. It breaks the mold of what anime usually is. No cliches, no Harem, no fan service, and not even a sole protagonist. It's interesting, it's fun to watch & above all it makes you curious. I found myself researching things between each episode. I feel like that was the goal it sought to achieve, to make you curious about history, the people that make it up, and to try & understand them even if a little. It definetly achieved that. On the other hand, it still had some flaws. The Artstyle is great but the animation is lacking. The story gets a bit all over the place at points, and there's these weird moments where the protagonists are being chased & they stand around monologuing instead of running. The ending gets a bit weird but it still drives the point home. Definetly recommend, especially when you're at a phase of not liking anime. Not even mentioning the legendary OP/ED that i'll listen to forever.
