"Hell on Wheels" Review by the Totally RAD Show http://revision3.com/trs/hellonwheels
Definately love the level of detail they put into this show.. Also love the era, comes close to 'deadwood'
I can't help but feel that HoW really stalled in season 4. It's a season that kills characters and doesn't really develop any new ones and certainly lacks the sense of history in the making of the previous seasons. The longer the writers dwelled in Cheyenne, the more lost they got.
I´m probably one of the few who don´t like it but that is how it is. I watched 24 episodes and, with very few exceptions, struggled through every one of it. And the more I watched the less I cared. Would have loved to see more of the "unprecedented engineering feat". Instead for me this is a soap wrapped in a western setting with the building of the transcontinental railroad in the background. None of the characters were interesting enough to keep me watching. There is nothing unique about them, they seem to be picked from different shows and just put in period clothes. On the plus side the atmosphere is right. It´s dark, gritty, at times brutal. In that regard it is believable. Not enough.
I haven't turned off any shows in the past. But after 15 minutes of this I had enough. Don't know, acting felt to soft for this kind of show.. Should I try episode 2 ?
