Synopsis

It’s one of those series that has more to it than the title suggests once you decide to go past the first few episodes. The author of this story is the same as Days with My Stepsister, and even though it’s quite different, it’s still entertaining. It has a slower start, but I still somewhat enjoyed parts of even the first episodes. It can be a bit annoying if you are expecting some development in the relationship department, though.

This fall rom‑com anime leans hard into a simple, familiar hook: apathetic high schooler Akiteru slowly being dragged out of his indifferent shell by his best friend’s relentlessly clingy little sister, Iroha. The setup is executed with a light, breezy tone across a compact 12‑episode courserun (25 minute episodes), and the cast—led by Haruki Ishiya and Sayumi Suzushiro—does a fine job selling both the comedy and the quieter, awkward moments between the leads. What works: the character chemistry and small, everyday beats are enjoyable. Iroha’s overbearing antics are played for laughs without becoming outright mean, and there are genuine moments where the show lets the relationship breathe instead of forcing constant escalation. The production values are solid for a 2025 TV rom‑com, and the cast of supporting characters adds flavor without overcomplicating the story. If you like gently teasing, slow‑burn school romances, there’s plenty to appreciate. What holds it back: the series is fairly predictable and leans on rom‑com tropes, so it won’t surprise viewers seeking something bold or subversive. The pacing can feel uneven—some episodes stall on repeated gags or familiar misunderstandings—and if you expect rapid relationship development you may be disappointed. The tone is safe overall; it’s pleasant but rarely risky. Verdict: A likable, well‑acted rom‑com that hits most of its intended notes without pushing many boundaries. Entertaining and easy to watch, especially if you enjoy character‑driven slice‑of‑life romance, but not quite memorable enough to be outstanding. Solid 7/10.
