I started watching Deaf U after reading a twitter thread about how most of the production staff were deaf as well and I'm really glad I did. It does end up being just about their love lives but that's unsurprising since it's about a college. I haven't watched too much non-english content so I think the way that this requires 100% of your visual attention is an interesting parallel to how deaf people have to interact with media and in conversation.
