At times the script feels very hammy and several scenes are too on the nose but it's hard to escape the drama and shocking events that are unfolding. Even more shocking is to think the event of The Comey Rule isn't from a presidency years ago, they're the current one.
If any movie/series could clarify the USA 2016 elections, this is not it. Told from the point of view of James Comey, it justifies all his controversial decisions by presenting a trade-off between the bad and the worst. It's significant that the only character not represented in fiction is Hillary Clinton, as a credibility of the character. Good direction and performance by Jeff Daniels, it's a missed opportunity.
It’s a dramatization of real-life and is an adaptation of Comey’s own words. It’s entertaining at times, also dry with the expository scenes by some characters. I think of this show less of an accurate retelling but a political drama “inspired by real-life”. It’s a fine watch nonetheless.
