Après des débuts au théâtre après la Seconde Guerre mondiale, Honor Blackman se lance dans le cinéma à la fin des années 40, s'illustrant notamment dans Fame Is the Spur, Si Paris l'avait su ou A Boy, a Girl and a Bike, avant d'apparaître face à Elizabeth Taylor dans Guet-apens (1949) ou le film-catastrophe Atlantique latitude 41 (1958). Elle tourne parallèlement pour la télévision, et devient une star du petit écran et une icône féministe dans le rôle de Cathy Gale, première partenaire de John Steed dans Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir.
