Cliched and predictable but still likeable and funny.
The movie has a lot of ups and downs. I'd call this a gay _Superbad_ (2007) - Supergay? Painfully predictable and borrows from other movies - are you trying to tell me they didn't get the go-cart idea from _Clerks 2_ (2006)? Still, it was pretty good. Even though, ultimately, this has a positive message, it gets tripped up a lot on the way there. I think a huge problem with making this work was by casting guys in their thirties to play high-school seniors. Just really took me out of the moment. Now, the person who was perfectly cast was Nick Offerman. Wow! I haven't seen much of his work, but he totally knocked it out with such a small part. I wish I could recommend this for young gay kids who want to have their own virgins-trying-to-get-laid-on-prom-night movie. I suppose you could do worse. Check it out, I guess. Whatever. All that will stick with me is the line "Get shit on your dick. Shitty dick." I laughed pretty damn hard at that. Where I can recommend this is for fans of Dakota Johnson - the only reason I wanted to see this. For someone who genre hops so often, she really needs to be in more comedies. Loved her in this.
