A cheap and poorly made horror film, Species III continues the saga of humanity’s struggle to contain human/alien hybrids. Picking up where the last film left off, a research scientist raises Eve’s alien offspring in an attempt to create an improved DNA strand, but when other half-breeds learn of his research they come after him. Unfortunately Sunny Mabrey is no Natasha Henstridge; she has no personality or charisma whatsoever. In fact, all of the acting is pretty atrocious (except for Robert Knepper). And, the special effects and makeup are just awful. Species III is complete and utter garbage that bears little resemblance to the original.
Ok, three strikes and you're out. This one belongs in the bonfire
It’s poorly made and pacing is ass but it’s kinda a fun watch in a way idk really how to feel about it.im a sucker for shity sci-fi channel type shows and movies and this is definitely one but idk how to feel about it the beginning made me want to go to sleep then middle was good then between middle and end was boring again then end picked back up all this was due to the paceing im fine with no heavy action etc but the scenes were it’s just talk feels dragged out or like they’re talking out their ass about a sexy alien that can cause the end of humanity as we know it.
A direct-to-video sequel to the first two “Species” films wasn't exactly what I would have needed. And of course the result is mainly boring, because the part of the story that takes place in laboratories is substantially larger here, while disgusting effects, gore, and nudity have been scaled back somewhat. The new lead actress, Sunny Mabrey, also has considerably less screen presence than Natasha Henstridge, who only appears in one short scene. Otherwise, the cast is completely new and of the standard one would expect from a direct-to-video film. The same applies to the characters, who are completely lacking in depth. And you shouldn't give the story a second thought. Accordingly, “Species III” is really only for people (like me) who are completionists.
When the only redeeming qualities of a film are the boobies on display, you know you got a dud on your hands. Thank God there's other means to find both better and more boobs, as sitting through almost 2 hours of Species III to see some would be torture...
