This was a really charming film that featured two people who could not be more opposite from each other.  No matter how different we are we our struggles are real.  The last scene was really excellent. follow me at https://IHateBadMovies.com

This is an absolutely superb film! It requires a close watching, however.

I love Sean Baker and this is the only movie of his that sucks (so far). I cant finish it. The protagonist is such a useless bitch, I cant keep watching. I tried to get through this movie TWICE over a period of a year, and I cant. First time I quit was when she's in the old lady's kitchen for the first time. The highschool play level of "acting" she does to do what exactly? Get a conversation going? Get information? Get herself kicked out? It's unclear because her behaviour doesnt lead anywhere. The script just doesnt make any sense at some points. I quit the second time when the protagonist's friend gets in the car and almost sits on her dog. Too much cringe. Anora, Floriday Project, Tangerine and Red Rocket are so much better than this it's amazing.

Maybe I do not get it, but to me this movie just has no story, no depth, not reason to have been made. Apart from a quite explicit sex scene, I do not see what could attract anyone to this movie. It feels like if someone held the (shaky) camera for 1h44 onto some people that are just interesting for 10 minutes. The rest is just meaningless and void. Save your time for other thing than wasting it with this.

An authentic and straightforward look at contractual relationships. Sean Baker tells us here that every relationship (at least in this movie) is indeed contractual and some are cruel while others are beautiful. If both parties can get a positive kick out of the relationship, why not? The character dynamics are fascinating here, it's all authentic and realistic. Lots of humanity. These characters are going to stay with me for a while. Good acting all around. There's a lack of intimacy that made me uncomfortable. Most of it looks like it was shot on a shaky phone but it all works because what's being filmed is interesting visually. There's some colors that really pop just like *The Florida Project*. The sets lack in character personality traits, it's all circumstantial like when you rent a place. I'm still not entirely sold on the ending, it's good and it really closes the loop with the themes but I maybe wanted a conversation after, something that packs a bigger emotional punch. It would change my view on the whole movie if I were to rewatch it knowing that though.
