I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, and it's way better than I remember! It's actually kind of wholesome; there's no unnecessary drama, almost all of the jokes landed for me, and the characters feel pretty grounded for a comedy film. Also, seeing this as a single guy approaching his thirties gave me a whole new perspective.
A great comedy that was a surprise success when to came out. The sympathetic characters and the storyline that is especially relatable for all people who have had relationship beyond cultural borders, are just the right recipe for great light entertainment.
'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' is, simply, good. I've known of this movie's title for as long as I can remember, though didn't know a single jot about anything else. Of course, the title is all you really need as you can connect the dots from there. It's chucklesome viewing, I liked it. Nia Vardalos is the star of the 90', but Michael Constantine puts in a standout performance as well. Lainie Kazan is the best of the rest. John Corbett's Ian character isn't fully fleshed out, I didn't hold as much interest as I feel like I should have; I'm already forgetting about him. A film with sequels titled numerically... noice! Hopefully I'll enjoy them as much as I did this original.
Watched it today for the second time after I've seen it back then in the cinema. Couldn't remember a thing. It's actually so funny?
