Have you seen _Clerks_ (1994)? Okay, now imagine that as a roadtrip movie between a brother and sister. Black and white, fast dialog that feels purely organic, funny without trying too hard. The plot is very simple: Colin - who looks like if Michael Cera and Demetri Martin had a baby - agrees to accompany his estranged sister, JR - who doesn't look like anyone in particular, she's just hot, and sassy, and pretty, and funny, and we get to see her in her bra, and she has nice legs - in her quest to retrieve old belongings from her douchebag former boyfriend. Come to think of it, the movie is full of terrible people. This is really just a story about siblings going places and having weird encounters with shitty people. Bonus: We get a quick appearance by Anna Margaret Hollyman, who stars in one of my favorite Yule movies, _White Reindeer_ (2013). For me, Carlen Altman is the real star here. I need her in more movies. Let's see, what else happens? Oh, yeah, of course, there's the ending where
Colin makes out with his sister. I mean, I can't exactly blame the guy, but it was an odd way to end the film.
I think, for that reason alone, I'd have a lot of trepidation in recommending this to anyone. That being said, if you are a fan of indie comedies, totally check this out. Just, uh, be prepared for the ending.
