[Berlinale '24] The story takes the main elements of the Oscar-nominated short film "Brotherhood" (2018), focused on the return of a son who embraced Islamic extremism, but from his father's point of view, now adopting the feminine gaze. The film asks interesting questions but never addresses the answers, staying on the border between different genres that turns Aïcha's experience into a kind of sensory journey of the subconscious, evoking her fears and her uncertainties. But the aestheticism envelops the story in a visual calligraphy that ends up burying narrative understanding.
