this may be the first time i have liked a remake more than the original, even if it is only slightly.
Listen, my expectations were low and I was still disappointed. I'm not too picky and I can find something to appreciate in most movies but this one was extremely slow and not much happened. It's 100 minutes and yet it felt like 4h. The only reason I didn't turn it off after 20 minutes was because of Tom Welling
Although I seem to be one of only very few people who like the remake of John Carpenter's "The Fog", I still would recommend this horror thriller! It features a nice setup (a small remote island), a good plot (cheated leper seamen taking revenge) and decent acting & scares... Since I don't know the original I can not say if the remake is better or worse.
Some leprous ghosts return to enforce their contracts.
Even though I like John Carpenter's “The Fog, it's not exactly a movie that I hold sacred. Nevertheless, the remake from 2005 belongs straight to hell. There is nothing left of the impressive, dense atmosphere. Instead, there are exclusively annoying characters that you'd like to wish would choke on all the CGI fog. But honestly, if the effects are significantly better in a movie that's 25 years older, you've done something wrong. But in one way, “The Fog” (2005) is perfect, because it is the perfect example of how a remake should never be.
