The acting in this film is extraordinary. Really, top-notch stuff as you might expect from this cast. That said, the movie didn't come near the quality that I had hoped that it would. I think the core problem that I have with it is that I just didn't feel the developing love story. I think part of this is the lack of speaking by one of the leads and then the lack of loving interaction between the two leads. It didn't feel like they were in love - we were just kind of told that they were. It's a fine film - I just didn't see how it would rank among the all-time greats. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com or facebook IHATEBadMovies
I didn't care for The Power of the Dog, so I had low expectations for this one. Wow, it blew me away. One of the most beautiful erotic films I've seen.
The movie depicts primarily the difficult and often helpless condition of women in mid 19th century. The story is conveyed through a piano that is the only item that keeps the woman same in her harsh fate. A good story and movie, though I find it a bit overacted at times.
The New Age was born in 19th century New Zealand.
Superb soundtrack for an otherwise uninspiring film, which in my opinion fails to deliver its meaning, in a setting too indefinite and the little girl which often seems out of place.
