Synopsis
Dans les ruines de l'abbaye de Fossaway en Angleterre, un certain Mr. Smooth, propriétaire d'une maison de chasse, est poignardé. Dick Alford, l'intendant du château voisin, le manoir de Chelford, découvre le corps. Mais avant d'appeler la police, il demande à son cousin, l'obscur châtelain Lord Harry Chelford, de répondre qu'il n'a pas quitté sa chambre de la soirée. Le majordome Butler en sait beaucoup sur la personne décédée.

One of the classic German made Edgar Wallace movies of the 1960s (note: I watched the German version) This one is one of the better ones, though it still suffers from the bizarre setup of Germans playing Englishmen. It also suffers from the overly stylised characters, silly “secrets” and the forced logic that are though also inherent to the charm of these movies. A must for fans and a should for people willing to discover the world of Edgar Wallace.
