One of the best of two films of a century of the German cinematography.
There's a lot going on here, thanks primarily to this movie's incredibly long runtime. I think all my feelings start and end there--it was rough to get through, even though I really enjoyed most of what the movie was doing. It was repetitive, but the repeated stuff was ultimately really interesting. Psychoanalyst and ubermensch Mabuse dons costumes and plots schemes--to what end? It's not always clear, but it's fun to watch. I liked the hallucinatory sequences, the final shootout, and the set design. But probably won't sit through this one again.
