Showgirls is hardly a great movie but this documentary argues the case for a re-watch. It would have benefited from a few fresh first-hand interviews with cast and crew but it's still interesting enough.
Controversial documentary about the vindication of "Showgirls" as a cult movie. But the justification is made on little elaborate arguments, maintained by a group of critics or fans that we only listen to, without the participation of any of those responsible for the film. A more distant approach is lacking, with a greater sense of humor, and a less manipulative intention (sometimes two opinions are contrasted to reinforce the point of view of the documentary). The approach to camp cinema is more successful on other occasions.
this is more of a love letter from a handful of fans - it was a decent watch, but it was all 3rd party non affiliated interviews and opinions in this doc.
A great examination of the Showgirls film & phenomenon. A movie that was critically lambasted on release stands the test of time. Showgirls is rich for reinterpretation & reinvention as is shown by the stage productions / tributes.
