The film doesn’t quite score a perfect 10, rather a reasonable six. I have underscored the film because some of the plot strands are unrealised. Still, the actors are good and there are some fine moments within it.

[Atlàntida FF] A sensitive look at the world of adolescence, but away from the usual dramatic tics of the coming-of-age. Through a simple script, and perfectly drawn characters, the director shows a remarkable ability to make the protagonists, with their defects and virtues, move us. There is a certain Ken Loach touch, a reality film that talks about young people with no future, but with an optimistic point of view.

Like playing poker for matchsticks, the players brought their A-game but the stakes were low as the script didn't take any risks. Too bad, because the first-time actors (Ms Frankie Box and Mr Alfie Deegan) were so good the film ended up as a simple frame for their raw and boundless talent. The real Perfect 10 of the film is this duo.
