Synopsis
Adam et Eden vivent depuis toujours à l'envers, sur deux planètes situées l'une au-dessus de l'autre. Elle appartient au monde d'En Haut, prospère. Lui tente de survivre dans le monde d'En Bas, miséreux et détruit par la guerre. Le seul contact autorisé entre ces deux univers se fait via la société Transworld, dont l'immeuble forme un pont. Un jour, le jeune orphelin gravit le sommet de la montagne et aperçoit Eden. Les deux enfants prennent l'habitude de se retrouver clandestinement, là où leurs mondes se touchent presque, et tombent éperdument amoureux. Faisant fi des lois physiques et politiques, ils franchissent la frontière interdite pour se voir jusqu'au jour où un accident laisse Eden pour morte. 10 ans plus tard, Adam retrouve sa trace, mais la jeune femme, amnésique, n'a gardé aucun souvenir de lui...

It could have been a great movie, if not for plot holes in it the size of the Pacific Ocean.

Underneath it all the story itself was really cliche and there were holes galore. Despite that, I enjoyed it. The premise was neat, the visuals were amazing and the acting was pretty good.

Interesting concept and an emotional story, but lacking in execution and follow-through. Ultimately, all of the characters serve as a device for showcasing a two-worlds setting, and are not developed beyond regular genre tropes. If you are looking for a cute, fantastic, feel-good romance this movie is for you.

Stunning visuals, intriguing premise, nonsensical execution. Upside Down looks gorgeous, but it relies on too much exposition to explain itself, and even then it doesn't seem to be internally consistent with the rules of its universe.
