One of the best psychological thrillers I've watched in recent months. Nicolas Cage never fails to deliver. If there was one thing about this movie that I was disappointed with, it would be the sudden ending. I was unprepared for what happened and it just seemed very rushed, almost like the writers got to a place where they weren't sure what to do so... _"Let's just do this..."_ and wrap things up. Overall, however, it was a great story, and again, Cage delivers an over-the-top performance as a man who is trapped in a personal hell of his own making and is willing to try almost anything to escape. This is definitely worth watching!
Nicolas Cage and KaDee Strickland lead the cast in the crime thriller Grand Isle. The story follows a handyman who gets stuck at a country house during a severe storm and finds himself caught-up in the physiological games of the husband and wife. Cage and Stickland both give solid performances, and are joined by Kelsey Grammer (though they don’t really share any scenes). Also, the script does a fair job at creating tension and suspense; though the plot is a bit jumbled in places. And, the directing is rather weak and doesn’t use the space particularly well. Yet despite its problems, Grand Isle is an entertaining film with an engaging mystery.
As a Nicolas Cage fan of his more odd or cult like movies, this is a good one. Some of it is a let down but enjoyed the feel of the movie and the acting is good.
A fine production, although I kept thinking that
Buddy should try to take his chances with the hurricane instead of staying with those bozos.
Agreed, a bit predictable, but I was engaged throughout the film. It wasn't too slow.
really really good! from start to finish there's always something happening, it doesn't get boring. it's a bit predictable but still worth watching
