This is an interesting documentary about a fascinating athlete who got really short shrift by the US sports media. (But then, who doesn't?) However, the film is marred by the bad narration, and the personal involvement of one of the directors, who keeps trying to let you know he knows the subject personally. On the upside, this is as personal as a biopic will ever get, as it's very, very rare for a celebrity to let someone in this much and to allow the film to be made - rather to give his blessing to it - despite the rather brutal honesty of a number of the interviewees. It's worth watching even though the film-making itself is rather clunky.
