Synopsis
Dans le Vietnam rural du XIXème siècle, May, 14 ans, devient la troisième épouse du riche propriétaire Hung. Elle comprend rapidement qu’elle ne peut obtenir un statut qu’en s’imposant comme une femme capable de donner naissance à un fils. L’espoir de May de changer de statut devient réel lorsqu’elle tombe enceinte…

Visually beautiful, what this movie lacks with the plot is filled successfully with the cinematography! Maybe this isn't the best movie but has one of the most beatiful photographies of this year!

It went nowhere beyond the premise. Pretty countryside but as empty as the plot within.

Like a fine arts coffee table book depicting the intrigue of child brides in 19th century Vietnam, with just as many beautiful images but just as little action and dialog.
