En 2075, les colonies humaines installées dans l'espace sont constamment attaquées par des extraterrestres. Une agence secrète du gouvernement travaille sans relâche à la construction d'une arme au pouvoir de destruction inégalé pour se débarrasser de ces hostiles aliens. À la tête de ce projet se trouve l'éminent scientifique Spencer Olham. Un matin, Spencer se rend à l'agence. Mais on lui refuse l'accès à son laboratoire et le dirigeant Hathaway lui annonce qu'il est arrêté pour haute trahison. Spencer se retrouve emprisonné avant même d'avoir eu le temps de réagir. Il est soupçonné d'être un extraterrestre imposteur qui a pris l'apparence physique d'un être humain. Spencer nie en bloc. Profitant d'un relâchement de la sécurité, il parvient à s'enfuir et se retrouve en cavale. Il ne peut faire confiance à personne.

An intense action thriller, Impostor is an impressive science fiction tale from Philip K. Dick. Based on a short story, a government scientist named Spencer Olham is accused of being an alien replicant and goes on the run in order to find a way to prove his innocence. Gary Sinise and Madeleine Stowe lead the cast and deliver fairly good performances. The special effects are also rather good (all things considered), and create a unique dystopian future. Additionally, the material is quite relevant in its dealing with themes of terrorism and police powers in wartime. Impostor has some issues, but the sci-fi themes are handled quite well.
oldy early 2000s style sci-fi like Paycheck, too oldy. Story is also very thin fugitive on the run plot (like Jonny Mnemonic) with not much else interesting happening

A half-baked science fiction plodder in which Gary Sinise tries to convince the authorities he's not a body-snatching cyborg with a bomb in his heart. Originally intended as one-third of a short story anthology, the studio called an audible midway through production and stretched it to a feature length by itself. The lack of preparation is crippling, as bad effects, terrible scenery, atrocious dialog and a heavily padded plot are exposed and emphasized by the longer running time. Sinise's character, the intended heart and soul of the picture (no pun intended), is incendiary and unlikeable, a standoffish prick who makes an already-bad position worse for himself in almost every situation. The awful lines he spits (seriously, some of the worst-written dialog this side of The Room) aren't helped by a hyperactive editor, switching angles several times in a single sentence. Awful in almost every sense, at least it goes out with a bang.
