Based on a Harlequin romance novel, A Very Country Christmas is a cheesy and melodramatic holiday film. The story follows a country singer who cancels his tour and goes to his small-town country house to escape the pressures of show business, and while there he falls for a single mother who’s struggling to become an interior designer. Greyston Holt and Bea Santos have decent chemistry, but the writing is pretty weak, as is most of the supporting cast. And the sets and costumes look fairly cheap. Still, the film has a positive message and some touching scenes. Pretty standard Harlequin fare, A Very Country Christmas has its moments as well as a bit of Christmas spirit.
With the exception of one very small but stupid and not needed subplot, a very cute Christmas movie.
