**Explores beautiful psyche of old age human.** Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are perfect for their lonely and flawed characters. What a sweet unfolding of two complex lives that crave connection and love. It begins simply with wanting to simply sleep through the night and then we get to know all the good and the hard parts of their lives and in the end it is about talking to each other. There is a bit of all of us in these characters. Film is adapted from the novel of same name by Kent Haruf, who died just few weeks after publishing his last novel.

Ain't no romance like a Fonda-Redford romance.

This is one of those movies where you pretty much know how you are going to feel about the movie during the opening scene. Fonda comes to visit the reclusive Redford, and the two have a rather surprising conversation. The themes of the movie and the pace at which they will be explored are put on the table for all to see. I was captivated by the scene. What follows over the next 90 minutes is an exploration of so many themes. While Fonda is absolutely radiant (does anyone have more expressive eyes?), it is Redford that gets a chance to sink his teeth into a character that needs to be transformed, and he hits it out of the park. Even the final scene is perfect: we don't get a grand resolution as that isn't the point of the film. These two have grown old and have learned how to navigate the curveballs that are thrown at them. Redford and Fonda together again, and it's a pleasure to watch them both. A gentle, honest drama that is lifted by these Hollywood greats.
