The Final Terror (1983) is a mossy, rain soaked backwoods chiller that keeps forgetting it’s a slasher. You get a stacked young cast. Daryl Hannah, Rachel Ward, Joe Pantoliano hiking through real forests with great texture, but the movie drifts into “camping trip with nerves” for long stretches and never finds a steady pulse. When it finally does awake up, it’s the last reel: bushcraft traps, improvised weapons, tighter geography, and a feral snap the rest of the film only teases. That final 7-ish minutes delivers a solid adrenaline bump and some nasty little payoffs, but it arrives late enough that the meandering middle still weighs the whole thing down. 5/10: watchable and atmospheric, saved from forgettable by the cast and that scrappy finale more of a rainy night curiosity than a keeper. Still happy to have watched it, Thanks Joe Bob!

Overacting and underacting, despite some recognisable names. 1 point. **Audio, Visuals and Movement** (Max 2 Points) Unconvincing special effects. Some nature shots. 1 point. **Resonance (emotional impression)** (Max 1 Point) No points. **Enjoyment (bonus point for any reason)** (Max 1 Point) No bonus points. _Summary:_ 3 points. Listen to your mom, don't have sex, don't do drugs.
Watched this afternoon, decent backwoods horror for my 31 Days Of Horror.
