I love Visconti. He made some masterpieces. But they tended to be in his earlier career. I find some of his 70's films not particularly good at all. This one was a masterpiece though. A psycholigical film about love, infidelity, wanting something you didn't care about until you lost it. An absolutely amazing performance from the watery eyed Giancarlo Giannini, one of my favorite actors ever.
