They whitewashed this character so hard they're trying to gaslight the audience by using names like "Siouxsie" (Suzy. Seriously) and spouting lines like "I'll get the Indian". The movie overall was just sorta "meh", but every time they insulted this Irish girl it dug under my skin just a little. And just because I try to be cautious, looks can be deceiving after all, I checked to see if she had even a fraction of First Nation in her at least. As far as I can find she's just Irish, from Arizona. Also, to be clear, her nationality has no relevant plot in this movie. Maybe it did in the original, which I haven't seen, but is based around the school being built over stolen First Nation land. I guess they're trying to nod to that??I don't know. If y'all know something I don't, please tell me. It's fine enough. It's a slasher movie. You get what you came for, in this case that just includes the classic awful stereotypes and forced overuse of "shocking" dialog and actions that add nothing. I love a good horror movie, and a good comic book movie. This ain't it. But it's not boring. I made it through the whole thing. Do with that what you will.
