Poor acting from basically everyone except Charlie, Eliza and Charlie's mom. Everyone else was either all the time awful or 90% of the time awful which made the movie so hard to watch.
Not much of a movie..the only good acting character is Charlie....I grew up in Australia in the 70s and the only racism I saw was from the gangs of Asians and the local indigenous gangs..the whites were the ones attack and there still being attacked especially in movies/tv shows and even on the local news......
The film's okay; certainly better than some of the opinions on this page. Having said that, it could have been better. The story was promising but it was told in a fairly unexceptional way. Had the potential to be something special, but ended up being good rather than great.
I will disagree with the previous comment, I did not think the acting was bad, as much as it was intentionally awkward for most everyone. Of course I might be wrong, but I think it was done so to best display insecurities, as it is precisely from personal feelings of insecurity that originate lies, violence, prejudice and abuse. I truly enjoyed the very casual way horrible things are displayed in the film, and I am already looking for the novel that inspired it!
