A dense atmosphere permeates the narrative, where the character Cebe, played by Linda Manz, finds herself caught between a completely broken, abusive and decadent family and an obsolete and oppressive system that judges her simply for being who she is. Her only refuge is in music, which acts as an escape valve in the midst of the chaos and melancholy that guide her journey. The story is charged with intensity, with an exceptional soundtrack that becomes a central element of the narrative, and characters that are deeply well-developed, making every moment impactful.
Disco sucks. Kill all hippies. This is one of those "plot-light" films, where you aren't being told a strictly structured story as much as you're experiencing life through the eyes of a character. Great if you're in the right mood, but not for everyone.
