Love triangle? Try hexagon! What a hot mess, thankfully we were saved from seeing most of it. The uncle was the best character.
Well The Seagull is off my recommended list, I appreciate being able to stream it but the only positive for me was the setting in the early 1800s .. It was hard to follow and not much of a story
Am not familiar with the Chekov original, though I read somewhere that this adaptation takes a few liberties with his work. I can't comment on this, not having read the work on which this is based, but what I can say is that I rather enjoyed the film. Not as heavy as I expected bearing in mind it's based on a Russian play, this is a darkly comic tale that is one part comic Woody Allen, and one part acerbic Mike Leigh.
Some of the reviews I saw before seeing this film said that the spirit of the play is lost in the movie. I did not see that at all. I thought the story really shown through with the help of some fantastic acting. follow me at https://IHATEBadMovies.com
I try to write a bit about every movie I watch, but I do not know what to say about this one. It's the kind of movie where you really need a good reason to want to see it, because this is not something you watch casually. For me it was Saorsie, I watch pretty much everything with her in it. So if you are not interested in any of the actors or the material itself (I understand it's somewhat of a classic), then I do not think it's necessary to see this.
