Le docteur Frankenstein donne naissance à une créature féminine de chair et de sang...

Considering that this Frankenstein adaptation is called "The Bride," the titular bride (Jennifer Beals) doesn't exactly play the leading role. Instead, much of the film focuses on the friendship between Frankenstein's monster (Clancy Brown) and the dwarf Rinaldo (David Rappaport) and how both try their luck in a circus in Budapest. At least that's the better part of the film, because whenever the bride comes into play, the film degenerates into a really boring historical drama. Beals certainly has the right look for the role, but on the other hand, Sting as Baron Charles (?) Frankenstein is quite a miscast. All the energy leaves the film every time the rock star has another scene. A few entertaining moments and some reasonably passable sets ultimately prevent "The Bride" from being a complete disaster. But it's definitely not a good film.
A very bizarre take on a classic. It's more of a love story than anything. But the characters are likeable and make it engaging and interesting enough.
