The makers of this movie just could not decide whether they wanted to make a mobster movie, a crime-comedy or a rom-com. And that is just what the result is: a total mess. Only the top-notch cast saves the movie from failing even further. I generally like Liam Neeson in dramatic roles as well as in action movies. But he is just not a comedy actor, as he also proved in the recent “Naked Gun” remake. Save yourself the one. There are many better movies out here.
This movie was all over the place, with some of everything, but good at nothing. Not enough action to be an action movie. The drama was poor, the script awful. There was a hint of romance, then it disappeared. The comedy wasn't funny, it was just stupid. And the suspense sagged like a bag of wet noodles. Put it all together, and you have a lame, pointless mess. There was also lots of foul language in this movie. What a waste of time! Gun Shy is NOT a must watch, but rather a hard pass for all fans of cinema.
It is quite refreshing to see Liam Neeson play a role that's so out there and quirky. The movie shows us another side of those we consider invincible. It cuts through the facade and explores the idea that at the end of the day, even those we think indestructible are human after all with cheesy desires
like growing tomatoes
and normal afflictions
like incontinence
. Gun Shy is a must watch for all fans of good cinema.
