Straight off the back of the first Mad Max comes...Battletruck (aka Warlords of the 21st Century) It's very New Zealander-ish - the hero is a decent guy, the acting is pretty average (or is it the accent?), the faces are familiar, the budget was low, there is a car chase and it was filmed in Central Otago before the Hobbits moved in. You can tell you are in the future because there is a truck with lots of computers (for no apparent reason as no-one uses them, and at one point the driver thought the truck might not get up a hill without overheating - a very NZ trait) and a motorbike with solid disk wheels. Cool! Kudos for the most use of the Wilhelm scream I can recall in any movie, and for use of the
Thelma and Louise ending a decade before Thelma and Louise
copied the NZ movie BattleTruck It's not really inspiring, but is probably more for enthusiasts of early NZ films or 1980s apocalyptic movies
