This movie seemed to be a series of contradictions piled on top of each other mixed with some standard themes of the 1980's teen movie scene. We had the annoying younger brother(and he was), the parents who just don't understand, and the underpopular girl who doesn't only want to fit in, NEEDS to be the most popular in the school. Of course she has to abandon her best friend on the journey to popularity too. The soundtrack is a mess. Out of nowhere people bust out into not-so-delish 80's rap skits but in the next scene we'll have background smooth jazz. Caren Kaye and Dick Sargent as Louise's parents seemed horribly miscast, they are 21 years apart in age and even further distant at fitting in here. Then we get to the ending dance scene where our heroine steals Randa's boyfriend from her without hesitation. At least she didn't use her magic so it's all good. Looks like there is going to be a remake of this starring Ashley Tisdale for those of you who enjoyed this.
2025 first watch. Such a laughably enjoyable 90s cheese fest. Loved the rapping and the Saved by the Bell aesthetic.
A girl with special powers in this teen comedy.
One of my favorite movies since the 1980s. Love the music. Love the story.
