Turns out channeling Wes Anderson in a Western can be quite amusing

This film was shot in beautiful Te Waipounamu - South Island, NZ - where I’m from. I recognize some of the locations, and the mountains that provide the backdrop on the horizon. It’s a good down-beat glamour-free drama that should appeal if you appreciate the modern Western genre.

It definitely has a feel of early A24 and that's a good thing. The cinematography is very vibrant at times and easy to look at.

Of course it's slow—we were forewarned—and the slowness fits the period. It moves inexorably onwards, and sticks to the plot line with no fluff.
