Considering how good Marilou Diaz-Abaya was at her best, this is pretty average. Made two years after her great film, Jose Rizal (1999), this is a little timid in comparison. And it doesn't draw much sympathy from the viewer in the way that it should. An OK film but also a little disappointing.
